The short of it…
In addition to our ongoing support of Compassion’s ministry in the sponsorship of vulnerable children, we are now also supporting a cluster of Compassion frontline church partners in Mexico City through the We Rise As One Campaign!
Did you know that this pandemic has the potential to undo at least 10 years of progress toward poverty alleviation globally?

The problem:
During this time of crisis, Compassion is unable to run their holistic child development programming while churches remain closed. Therefore, all child sponsorship dollars are being directed towards the critical needs of all Compassion children.
However, as you can imagine, this pandemic has created a need much greater than what regular sponsorship dollars can cover. This is why they have created the We Rise As One COVID-19 disaster response fund, in order to supplement what regular sponsorship dollars cannot cover.
The solution:
Extra funding through the We Rise campaign will go towards:
Preserving the lives of Compassion beneficiaries and their families who are in more vulnerable conditions through the provision of a 5-day family food kit (2 meals a day). This extra intervention is estimated to cost $25/family.
Our part…
Our goal is to raise $10,000CAD towards this initiative (inclusive of $5,000CAD from the church’s budget). That’s right, City Gates will match every dollar you donate towards this cause!!
We can do this #citygaters! Remember, we would have raised thousands of dollars anyway to fund our planned (and subsequently cancelled) trip to Mexico with Compassion Canada (see citygates.ca/compassion2020).
