Hey Citygaters
We are fasting and praying as a church THIS Saturday Oct 24th, right until after our service the next morning of Oct 25th.
Why fasting?
Fasting is one of the ways in which we humble ourselves before God. Just as we cannot function without food, we cannot function without God. Going without a physical need reminds us of our spiritual need. One generally have more time available to pray during a fast, as meal times can easily be substituted with praying! If you aren’t able to fast food (great pun), then still join us by fasting social media, coffee, TV or any other aspect of your life that you often depend on!
Where and how are we doing it?
We will meet on Saturday morn, Oct 24th, at Mike & Edwina Holmes’ house (2711 Greenwood Road, Ajax) from 9am-10am to pray through the following aspects together:
- That our ‘manifesto’ (helping people find and follow Jesus) would not just be something we say, but something we see! New converts.
- That we would be motivated because we care and not because we’re coerced into this. We want God’s heart to beat in our chests.
- Lets pray for those people around us who have yet to find and follow Jesus. Come with a list, as we’re going to pray for each of them by name.
- Trust God for scriptures and other prophetic encouragements that we can take into our next season as a church.
We’ll pray together again on Sun morn at 10am for 15 minutes, and will break the fast with a light meal in the foyer immediately after the service.
