Gospeling the Christ
Bible Text: Acts 8:1-8 | Preacher: Toby Mak | Series: Origins in Acts: A Look at the Early Church | When we get to Acts chapter eight, it’s been some time since Jesus’ initial to his disciples to go out into the region (Judea and Samaria) and then to the ends of the earth (1:8). After the public execution of Stephen, widespread persecution breaks out and they actually do spread out and begin to do as Jesus instructed. And as they do, Luke tells us about the ministry of Philip. What did it mean that the followers of Jesus began “preaching the word” (lit. gospel-ing) and that Philip preached “Christ”?
